FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
I am wanting to Baptize my child, but I do not have his Original Birth Certificate just yet. What can I do? Please provide a copy of the Birth Facts to the office to begin the registration process. Once you have the Original Birth Certificate, bring it to the office. The Baptism Certificate will not be made until the Original Birth Certificate has been turned in.
The godparents that I have selected are married through the court, but not by the Catholic Church. Do they still qualify as godparents? Unfortunately, they do not qualify as Godparents. Godparents are required to be married by the Catholic Church.
I am not planning on Baptizing here at St. Leo, I just want to take the preparation class. Is that possible? Yes. Please come by the Parish Office to register for a preparation class. Below is what you will need to register:
A valid for form of ID
$15 fee per person taking the class
I am the Grandparent of the child. The parents are working so they are unable to come to register. Can I register the child for them? Due to legal reasons, the parent/guardian of the child are the only ones allowed to register the child for the Baptism. If a parent/guardian is unable to come and register, they will need to make a letter explaining the reason they are unable to come and register, and also they must name a person that will be doing the registration process. A copy of the parent/guardian's ID is required when bringing in the letter.
